The village of Bulukumba is located on the south-eastern side of the same spur of Sulawesi as Makassar (Ujung Pandang). At the mouth of the nearby river, which rises at the 2,870-metre-high Lompobatang, this small, well-protected harbour has been built for ships of modest tonnage. – Sulawesi – 1990
