The inhabitants of Chichicastenango belong to the indigenous Quiché ethnic group. The cemetery of the village is worth seeing and is popularly called the "cemetery of colours". The colours symbolise different aspects: White symbolises the loss of parents, yellow is used when an old man dies, and blue when a mother dies. - 1977
