Two canoe-builders, members of the Stalo Halkomelem on the Chilliwack Reservation, doing the rough hewing on a pair of racing canoes. Each of the boats is fashioned from half of a split red cedar trunk and is intended to provide sufficient space for 11 men to paddle. In addition to the traditional adze, modern Indians also use axes and chain saws. 32N-P055-01
