Charangito player from Kenko in the department of Cuzco, Peru. Stringed instruments seem to have been unknown to the pre-Columbian civilizations. The original charango is a small guitar with a resonance box made from armadillo armour. The rather high-pitched sound is produced on five or six pairs of strings. - 1976
